April
Fool!
Or is it?
The idea of adding radiation
detectors to mobile phones was proposed
by the US Department of Homeland Security in 2007, and real companies
such as Gentag
and eV
Products are involved
with such technologies, and probably have the skills and capabilities
to do it.
Unfortunately, when governments
tend to get involved, major projects fall apart. For example, take
the UK's multibillion pound "Connecting
for Health" project
which has delivered virtually nothing, and probably will never work
despite huge sums being spent.
Combine that with a woefully
inconsistent way of applying legislation where law-abiding citizens
are spied
on routinely, but the
bad guys still seem to get away with murder.. literally, and you
have a recipe for disaster
In all probability we WILL see
manufacturers experimenting with radiation detectors in mobile phones
sometime in the next five years. And we have to admit that it's
quite a cool idea.
